The final Street Snippet for the 2020-2021 school year was heard by Aurora as she walked around Lincoln Center on 66th Street and Broadway. This is the cultural center of New York City, with Lincoln Center, Juilliard, LaGuardia High School (which she attends), and The Special Music School, all within two blocks of each other. As you can imagine there’s a lot of musicians, artists, and theater people milling around, and the conversations can get kind of dense.
“If we were in a movie I’d be in a dress and my knight in shining armor would come to get me but we’re not. So…” Do you see what I mean? There’s a lot going on there with the imagery and story line. Let’s refine that for the opening sentence so you’ll have a little more room to play.
“If we were in a movie… but we’re not.”
I’m going to suggest that fragment for your opening sentence, but you’re welcome to use the entire snippet if you’d like. Aurora and I are very much looking forward to hearing your final story. Submissions will be accepted through Sunday, April 18.
