Expectations of a Genius
People were trying to tell him he was a genius,
But he didn’t seem to know or care.
In fact, his knowledge was everywhere
In the books and on the web.
Everyone knew his name.
Everyone knew about his life story.
All of his discoveries were known to man
And sometimes, his experiments did not go to plan,
But that did not stop a new scientific fact from being published.
Everyone knew how he was never incorrect,
Yet this made him fear with dread,
Since maybe he wasn’t so right after all,
With all of his predictions being flung over his head.
Maybe it is too much to expect from a human being
To be a genius and nothing in-between.

I love how you slowly reveal the immense pressure that comes with everybody assuming that a person is a genius—starting with him being known by everybody but shifting to more of his perspective, and feeling overwhelmed. So good!
