I thought I could make it.
I really thought I could make it.
I hunkered down in my desk,
Unprepared for the test,
With my teacher glaring at me…
I had arrived late yet again;
This time it was eight-o-three!
In her eyes was a look of disdain,
And in mine a look of lament.
I struggled to cogitate an excuse;
I could not fabricate one in the end,
Because, to be honest, I just pressed snooze.

Nick I really loved the broad range of vocabulary you used here I feel like it really adds an extra level to your poem. I also enjoyed the humor throughout the poem that helped to give the poem a personal feel.

I like the word choices and how the end turns it lighthearted.
