I thought I could make it.
I really thought I could make it.
Through the rubble from the steel titans,
The sky black as ink.

Scents of buildings being ruinated,
I knew my time was slipping before me,
Ash draped over the city like a carpet,
Dark, bright flames flow out the windows.

The towers falling, crushing below,
Providing a cloud of dust to cover the air,
The dust grasping my lungs,
I can’t breathe.
I know I have to breathe.

The city losing it’s life,
The soul of the city extinguished,
A dark brooding abyss forming below,
The earth shattering before my eyes.

I knew that a building would plunge upon me,
It was only a matter of time,
Time is something I lack,
I cannot escape this trap.

Time moves slower as the earth disintegrates around me,
The screams roaring like the trains bustling through the city,
Time ticking down; the noises all silenced,
My time is up, the end is here.
