“I can’t take you to the park sweetie because the Giants are about to start playing.” Is what I said when the biggest game of my brothers career was about to happen.
It was a fine evening spending time with family, playing games, and cooking food. We were all spending time getting ready to watch the giants play a team that my brother plays for it was his first ever game in his NFL career. My daughter has no idea what that means to someone so she decides she wants to go to the park.
I tell her in the best way I can there is no possible way I can miss this game. We can in the car and travel to the stadium my daughter was crying in the back seat it, was as annoying as crickets chirping in the bushes.
As we get to the stadium we walked to our seat which was way in the front with a great view and we took a seat. I saw my brother sprint onto the field like something straight from a movie. As they start the coin flip my heart is pounding for my brother. As soon as the coin thumps on the floor I hear a click in my bag pocket. Thinking it was nothing I left my phone lying there.
During the game I keep hearing clicks after and after sounding like a popular kick back in my day. I realize I need to check my phone. I grabbed it out of my pocket with a quick vibration in my hand and another notification came through. As I lay my eyes on the first notification there it lied. My heart was no longer pounding it had stopped or at least felt like it.
The notification had read “At New York National Park today 20 kids and their parents were in significant danger as the slide had gotten lit on fire and was burning to the stakes in front of all the shocked and worried people, the cause is still unknown”.
