“I did, I did”
Said the serpent to the kid
Slithering across the lid
Where the little one now hid
“Down my throat they slid,
And the same to you, I now bid.”
Through the cracks, the serpent spying
The boy, solemnly crying
“You may not live, I shall not lie,
But there is worse I can do, than letting you die.”
The serpent, now smiling
Around the bin, he sat spiraling
The child, begging to go
“Instead, like the others, it will be slow.”
“You couldn’t have eaten them all,
Surely there were too many, how did you not fall?”
“Oh, but I did, I did”
Said the serpent to the kid.
